Has it really been that long?

I can believe it's been this long since I've posted anything here. So much has happened since my Dad passed away, which was the last post i made here. Thing have steadily gotten better with my life since such a low point back in late march and early may. I sure can't go into all of it here, but i do hope i can at least start posting things from here on out. This blog isn't about how many people read it no offence to the 2 of you out there. Its more or less , some place i can post my feeling / comments on stuff from time to time it's basically for my own record. One thing I want to give my opinion on is the iPhone.

I recent got a 8 gig iphone. It was a early birthday and Christmas present from my wife and kids. I am like a kid with a new shinny toy. This phone has simply made me giddy with joy. I can't remember back to when some peice of technology has cause me this much exuberation. I have had an ipod shuffle(first gen) for about 2 years, and mostly listen to podcasts and sometimes music its been a great little device. I belive one of my first posts here was why i loved it so much it made me a apple convert. So when Steve Jobs announced the Iphone back in January , At the price of $600 dollars, I knew there was a fat chance that i would be getting one anytime soon. So i kind of let the iphone drift back into my wish list, just in case i won the lottery or something. Then on Sept 5th Steve Jobs announced the new Ipod Touch. A iphone without the phone basically. It did everything the iphone did with the exception of the phone and email on the phone. I had been thinking of getting a new ipod to replace my aging 512meg shuffle. So i told my wife and kids, i wanted a Ipod touch for My birthday and Christmas present. So my ever loving wife started socking away money here and there for my present. A few weeks later We went to a local mall where they had my favorite store..."The Apple Store".. While in there i saw the ipod touch and tried them out. They were nice and worked decent enough and at $299 for the 8 gig model, that price was just about right. while in the store, I felt a need to play with the iphone. Have you ever fell totally in love with something right away? Thats what happened to me and the iphone. My wife could sense it too... She knew i would never be totally happy with the ipod touch. I think i went back in the apple store 3 times that night , just to crank call my daughter with the iphones. So about a week later, my wife having socked enough money away, told me to get my iphone. I was going to get the 4 gig model(which had been recently discontinued and at the same price as the ipod touch) but they were out of them. But my wife had socked enough money away for me to get the 8 gig model(which also had been brought down in price to $399). I have been a happy little camper from then on if you want to see all the different features the iphone has check out Apple iPhone. Its simply amazing and has caused me to love music again.

Thank You to my loving Wife and kids for a totally awesome gift..Not just the phone, your love.

And Thank you Steve Jobs and Apple inc for rekindling my love of Gadgets and music.

AMERICA...YOUR FREAKING DEAF!!!

Tonight, America voted off Sundance Head on American Idol. All I have to say is "the tv has a volume level on it...it must be turned up to hear, because you obviously had it turned down!"

Go Chris Sligh, your my only hope! Sundance, I hope things turn out ok for you..America got this one so wrong!

Hello people,

Sorry about no posts for a couple of days but work and life got in the way...I still think I'm doing good compared to the past.. I've posted more in a week than i have since I've started the blog!

I've got to get this off my chest..  I'm a big comics fan . not so much a fan of recent books(except the walking dead)  though. Today , Marvel killed off CAPTAIN AMERICA!! The ultimate Boy Scout/Patriot. I can't help but to think that there is some political motivation behind this. Was it getting to hard to write stories about Captain America with out showing some kind of bent towards the right or left of the political spectrum? Another thing that's bothering me about it is the way he was killed. He wasnt killed in some epic battle that lasted days like Superman. he was killed in a most cowardly way..a sniper's bullet. Just like that, the symbol of American strength and loyalty, wasted!! A message perhaps? I hope not!! One thing is for sure, no one stays dead in comics...right Supes?

Still Flying my Flag proudly,
Frank

Back from the skate A Competition in Easton, Md. Vicky did real well. Everyone was complimenting her on how well she did. they all loved her outfit. she designed it herself and one of her fellow skaters made it for her. By the way, did i mention she got first place for her age group? Good job Vicky.

I'm gonna try to turn this into a daily blog, so bear with me..

On tap for today: My daughter's stake competition  in Easton, MD is today. She goes on around 3:30 pm i believe. I'm gonna take plenty of pictures and will post some later tonight from it.

Also on the way back i have to stop and get a cake mix. Why you ask? because we are baking my dad's birthday cake for Sunday. His 72 birthday is today, but with the skate comp, we can't get there today. So Happy Birthday Dad, See ya tomorrow.

Later,
Frank

Ok..i know...I've been a closet American Idol watcher since 2006. It's all my kids fault . They got me into it.
Last year i wanted Chris Daughtry to win..My second choice was Talyor Hicks.. Atleast i got one right.
I just got done watching the guys tonight, and finally they showed up to sing... My favs so far for the guys are Chris Sligh and Sundance Head(wow!! what a name).I like them i guess because they have a few extra pounds like me.. hehee!!   Chris was real good again tonight, But Sundance finally showed up to Sing tonight...HE was Great!!

Uggg!!! I stink at titles!

Yo! its been a while. I've been so busy at work that I don't seem to have time for my blog, among other things.

Friday was one of those days that totally wasted me mentally! I was so glad when it ended.

It seems the older I get the more I long for  things in my past. Not technology mind you, I could never go back to a world without computers, I mean things/places from my childhood. My Life has had two chapters in my mind so far. Chapter 1 was Philadelphia. And chapter 2 is Delaware.  I in no way want to diminish the importantance of ethier chapter. Some of the best things that have happened in my life , happened in chapter 2. My wife,2 great kids, computers..lol. But it just seems the older i get the farther behind chapter 1 gets and the more I miss certian things about it. I remember something Sylvester Stallone said in an interview for Rocky Balboa. " The older we get the more things dear to us we seem to be losing". How true that is. And how helpless I feel! I guess the awnser is , when we lose something we need to fill that hole with something else. not forget it, never. Just put something in the hole that the loss created or the void will grow until our whole life is empty!
Man, I wish I was a better writer so some of this would make sense.

Why my "IPOD" made me buy a Mac...

  • Oct 23, 2006
  • Post a comment

On this the 5th aniversary of the IPod, I thought I would share my ipod/mac story.  Like I said in my first post, I've been a windows user for years. I've always heard of macs. Never really saw any around though. No stores had them.  About a year ago, I started hearing about these little web thingies called "PODCASTS". Did a little research and found out that my favorite "TechTv" pesonality "Leo Laporte" had a podcast called TWIT..I wanted to listen to it but I found that sitting at my desk for 1 hour or so and not be interupted was not possible at home. Then One day I had one of those fateful days when I realized I could download a podcast to a personal mp3 player via Itunes...and listen while at work while driving! So..what mp3 player do I get? well, I was under the assumtion that to play a "pod" cast you needed an IPOD! Silly me!! but great for Apple! anyway, I got an IPod Shuffle. From the first moment I got it, I was in love with the workmanship of it. It truly was a piece of art. Every other MP3 player was ugly compared to the shuffle, or any other IPod out there. I was Happy!! So Happy that I decided to get up to speed on that Other computer company. See what other products they had. In the mean time I had to reload windows numerous times due to viruses and spyware and general stupid stuff that happened to the OS. I tried Linux ,but found that taking 3 days to get things working (although fun.) just wasnt for me right now. I wanted something that works. Something that did everything I needed it to do. A machine that I didnt have to worry about spyware, viruses, adware, etc. That something was an Apple with OSX. And I have one...now!!
